Overview
Our antibiotic regenerative collagen portfolio combines the proven properties of collagen with the antibiotic protection1 of gentamicin across our range of sponges, foils and cones.
What is collagen with antibiotics?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the bodies of mammals and is the substance that holds the whole body together. It is found in the skin, bones and connective tissue, providing structure, support and strength.
When processed for use as a medical device, collagen has several beneficial properties. It is biocompatible, has a low toxic risk, is absorbable, has a low immunological response and is resorbed during tissue regeneration.
Our products are manufactured from naturally cross-linked, equine derived collagen and have a good safety profile.
How does collagen with antibiotics work for haemostasis and wound healing?
The body can regenerate lost or damaged tissue, and collagen products help to support and stimulate this process. Collagen is absorbable, meaning it can be broken down and assimilated by the body. In wound healing, collagen attracts new cells to the wound site, providing a scaffold for new tissue growth.
Collagen is a well known and established haemostat, mechanically triggering platelet activation, which starts the natural clotting process. Collagen is also highly absorbent and absorbs large quantities of fluid. This mechanical action allows the absorption of both blood products to aid haemostasis as well as debris, such as bacteria and fibrin deposits. The formed collagen fibrin matrix, acts as a scaffold for fibroblast growth.
Collagen foils are also approved for use as a temporary barrier to prevent adhesions between various tissue layers.
Collagen products containing antibiotics are protected against microbial colonisation and can be used in a wide range of indications.
Product Range
GENTA-COLL® resorb
A haemostatic collagen sponge containing the aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamicin.
GENTA-FOIL resorb®
A transparent collagen foil containing gentamicin. The absorbability of the equine collagen allows the foil to remain in situ, eliminating the need for a further procedure to remove it.
PARASORB® Dental Antibiotic Collagens
The AMS antibiotic dental portfolio includes absorbable cones and sponges with gentamicin for common oral surgery procedures.

Indications For Use
GENTA-COLL® resorb
GENTA-COLL® resorb is an absorbable haemostatic agent to assist in the control of capillary bleeding from parenchymatous tissue and can be applied in defect and residual cavities resulting from pilonidal sinuses.
GENTA-COLL® resorb can be used in wound cavities in the presence of diffuse, capillary, arteriovenous, or arterial or venous bleeding, extensive capillary bleeding from parenchymatous organs, or as a supportive measure for other procedures for haemostasis.
GENTA-FOIL resorb®
The absorbable, sterile GENTA-FOIL resorb® is intended to be used as a temporary adhesion barrier between various tissue layers of muscles, muscles and tendons and/or nerves, or bones. GENTA-FOIL resorb® is also used in nailbed surgery. GENTA-FOIL resorb® also has hemostyptic properties caused by the content of collagen.
PARASORB® Dental Antibiotic Collagens
PARASORB® Cone Genta is inserted for local haemostasis and as a defect filling into clean, clean contaminated and contaminated wound cavities.
PARASORB® Cone Genta is used for haemostasis following extractions or maxillary surgical intervention with a high risk of infection.
PARASORB® Cone Genta is also used for reducing alveolar ridge atrophy following tooth extractions.
