Infection Control

Antimicrobial wound dressings play an important role in managing infected wounds by helping to prevent and control bacterial growth. Infected wounds are a serious concern as they can delay healing, increase the risk of complications, and lead to systemic infection.1

Antimicrobial dressings contain agents such as silver, PHMB or CHG, which have antimicrobial properties and can help to reduce the number of bacteria in the wound bed. These agents work by disrupting the cell membrane of bacteria or by interfering with bacterial replication.1

In addition to their antimicrobial properties, some types of wound dressings also provide a moist environment that can promote wound healing. For example, foam, fibre or hydrogel dressings can help maintain a moist environment optimal for cell growth and tissue repair.

AMS’ range of antimicrobial wound dressings are an important tool in the management of infected wounds, and can help prevent and control bacterial growth, promote healing and reduce the risk of complications.

PHMB Foam

PHMB Foam is a safe, fast and effective antimicrobial foam dressing for faster wound healing. Our PHMB Foam with Raponic™ contains polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), which kills and inhibits the growth of bacteria, reducing pain during wound healing.

Silver Post Op*

Our Silver Post Operative dressing is designed to combat the issue of surgical site infections, which account for between 14% and 17% of all wound infections. The ergonomically designed dressing provides an effective antimicrobial barrier to aid post-operative healing.

Silver High Performance Dressing*

Our Silver High Performance dressing featuring patent-protected construction is a highly absorbent, high-gelling dressing containing CMC and silver. The antimicrobial silver provides broad-spectrum efficacy against a wide range of pathogens known to slow wound healing as well as the ability to eradicate biofilms (in-vitro).

Silver Alginates

Our range of Silver Alginate dressings offer enhanced performance and effective antimicrobial protection for up to seven days, with sustained silver ion release. The highly absorbent, high-gelling properties of Silver Alginate can result in fewer dressing changes, minimising clinician time and discomfort to the patient.

Moisture Wicking Fabric

Moisture Wicking Fabric with Tri-Go™ is a soft, conformable, antimicrobial fabric designed to help manage the conditions associated with intertrigo.

Silver Hydrogel*

Silver Hydrogel offers gentle debridement and desloughing with an easy-to-use gel containing an antimicrobial silver compound.
